“I come from a very humble background and it is a party like BJP which gives a chance to a common man to head the state. Now it is time to move ahead and give an opportunity to someone else. We will finalize the new CM on Wednesday,”. Rawat said.
BJP national vice president Raman Singh is also likely to reach Dehradun in the evening hours. Sources maintained that minister of state Dhan Singh Rawat who was in his Srinagar constituency has been brought to Dehradun in a helicopter. Dhan Singh Rawat is being regarded a front-runner for the post.
Besides, tourism minister Satpal Maharaj, Rajya Sabha MP Anil Baluni, Lok Sabha member Ajay Bhatt, RSS member Suresh Bhatt and former chief ministers Ramesh Pohriyal Nishak and Bhagat Singh Koshyari too are being regarded as frontrunners.

Trivendra Singh Rawat addressed a press conference today
On Saturday evening, Raman Singh who was an observer presided over a core committee meeting in which he took feedback from party legislators and left for Delhi.
On Sunday morning, CM went on a two-day tour to Gairsain, where he was scheduled to attend an important event on the occasion of International Women’s Day. He, however, returned to Dehradun in the evening hours of Saturday and left for Delhi along with MLA Munna Singh Chauhan and Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama on Sunday morning.
The abrupt end to the budget session at Gairsain along with BJP MLAs being rushed to Dehradun to attend a party core committee meeting – presided over by BJP vice president and former Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh – at Bijapur gave birth to speculations of a possible change in guard in the state.
Soon after the meeting, CM’s official program was released and it mentioned that we would be at Gairsain on Sunday and Monday. However, in wake of developments, CM flew to Delhi on Monday.
