NEW DELHI: India on Friday posted a record daily rise of over 3.86 lakh new Covid-19 cases and continued to post over 3,000 deaths for the third consecutive day, as per Union health ministry data updated at 8 am.
With 386,452 new cases recorded on Friday, India’s tally of total Covid-19 cases now stands at 1,87,62,976, the highest since the pandemic started in 2019.

The death jumped by 3,498 over the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 2,08,330, according to the health ministry data. While the daily count stayed above 3,000, it witnessed a minor dip compared to yesterday.
India has added about 7.7 million cases to its total caseload since the end of February, when its second wave picked up steam, according to a Reuters tally.
In contrast, it took India nearly six months to add the previous 7.7 million cases.
