NEW DELHI: A day after Serum Institute slashed the price of Covishield vaccine for states, Bharat Biotech on Thursday also announced it will cut the cost of Covaxin by Rs 200.
“Recognising the enormous challenges to the public health care system, we have made Covaxin available to state governments at a price of Rs 400 per dose,” the company said in a statement.

The Hyderabad-based company that for the last one year, it has been tirelessly working round-the-clock while overcoming many challenges given the uncertainty of the pandemic.
The price cut comes after Serum Institute’s CEO Aadar Poonawalla said that Covishield will be sold to states at Rs 300 instead of Rs 400. He described the decision as a “philanthropic gesture”.
