NEW DELHI: The protesting farmer unions on Wednesday said they will organise a march to Parliament in May to intensify their agitation against the three agriculture laws.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha, an umbrella body of the farm unions, said that farmers camping at the Delhi borders will march on foot to Parliament and the exact date will be decided soon.
It said the farmers will also block the KMP expressway for 24 hours on April 10.
The agitation against the three central farm laws has been going on since late November last year.
The farmers want the government to withdraw the three laws, fearing they will leave them at the mercy of corporates and dismantle the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system.
The Centre has refused to withdraw the laws and insists that they won’t impact the MSP system.
It had also offered to stay the implementation of the laws for 12-18 months to iron out the issues with farmer leaders, but the proposal was rejected by the unions.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court-appointed three-member committee on the three laws has submitted its report to the apex court in a sealed cover on Wednesday.
The committee said they have consulted as many as 85 farmer organisations across the country to work out a solution to the impasse.
The Supreme Court is likely to take up the case for hearing after Holi vacation in April.
