NEW DELHI: India is all set to begin the second phase of Covid-19 vaccination drive from Monday. Vaccinations will be available from March 1 at 10,000 government health centres and around 12,000 private centres.
Training will be provided to the health workers and other staff who will administer the vaccination and other standard procedures in the centres for the next two days, the health ministry said.
States and UTs have been asked to keep a vaccination scale-up plan ready which will include the granular weekly and fortnightly plans for scaling up the vaccination sites both within the government and private facilities and also the number of vaccine doses administered.
Here’s all you need to know:
-Besides healthcare and frontline workers, only those who are above the age of 60 or over 45 with certain health conditions will be able to receive the vaccine shots from March 1.
-People who want to get vaccinated in the second phase of Covid-19 vaccination will have to register on the Co-WIN platform.
-The beneficiaries will be able to self register in advance by downloading the CO-Win 2.0 portal and through other IT Applications such as Arogya Setu etc. This will show the government and private hospitals serving as Covid Vaccination Centres (CVCs) with date and time of the available schedules. The beneficiary would be able to choose the CVC of his/her choice and book an appointment for vaccination.
-There will also be a walk-in provision for the beneficiaries to get themselves registered at a nearby session site to get vaccinated. A beneficiary will just have to register with his or her mobile number and in turn, will receive an OTP with which his/her account will be created. One can also get their family members registered on the account.
-The new version of the Co-WIN platform will be GPS-enabled and the beneficiaries will have the option to choose the inoculation session site both at the government and private facilities.
-Registrations can be done for four people from one mobile app. People can also get themselves registered through the Aarogya Setu app by verifying One Time Passwords (OTPs).
-Those who do not have mobile phones, 2.5 lakh Common Service Centres have been opened which have proper internet facilities through which the registrations can be done. If none of the facilities are available, then people can directly visit the vaccination centre along with required documents and get themselves registered.
-The vaccination will be free at the government facilities and paid at private facilities.
-For people above 60 years, no extra document required, they will have to validate their identity via Aadhaar card, driving licence, voter identity card, passport, and PAN card when they visit the centre as they are not accepted online.
-For those between 45-60 years, a co-morbidity certificate is required. For those without internet, an on-the-spot registration option is provided.
-Volunteers will be available at every vaccination centre to help the people and ensure that all Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures are being followed.
