Yogi Adityanath vs MK Stalin over 3-language debate in Tamil Nadu: ‘Political black comedy’ | Latest News India

Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin on Thursday hit back at Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath’s comments on the three-language debate, accusing him of engaging in “political black comedy”.

MK Stalin said Tamil Nadu’s call for a fair deal in language policy and delimitation is gaining nationwide attention, unsettling the Bharatiya Janata Party.

“Tamil Nadu’s fair and firm voice on #TwoLanguagePolicy and #FairDelimitation is echoing nationwide—and the BJP is clearly rattled. Just watch their leaders’ interviews. And now Hon’ble Yogi Adityanath wants to lecture us on hate? Spare us. This isn’t irony—it’s political black comedy at its darkest,” Stalin wrote on X (formerly Twitter)

Stalin said Tamil Nadu does not oppose any language but rejects its imposition, framing the issue as a fight for dignity and justice rather than electoral politics.

“We don’t oppose any language; we oppose imposition and chauvinism. This isn’t riot-for-votes politics. This is a battle for dignity and justice,” added Stalin in his post.

The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president responded after Yogi Adityanath, in an interview with ANI, accused him of attempting to create divisions based on region and language due to concerns over his vote bank.

“The country should not be divided based on language or region. We are grateful to Prime Minister Modi ji for organising the third edition of the Kashi-Tamil Sangamam in Varanasi. Tamil is one of India’s oldest languages, with a history as ancient as Sanskrit. Every Indian respects and reveres Tamil, as many elements of Indian heritage are still preserved in the language. So, why should we hate Hindi?” said Yogi Adityanath.

Calling the DMK’s stance “narrow politics,” Yogi Adityanath said, “When they sense their vote bank is under threat, they attempt to create divisions along regional and linguistic lines. People must remain vigilant against such divisive tactics and uphold the country’s unity.”

Annamalai calls Stalin a ‘con artist’

Reacting to MK Stalin’s post, BJP leader and Tamil Nadu unit president K Annamalai accused the chief minister of being a “con artist masquerading as a protector of our constitution.”

“Thiru @mkstalin, you are a con artist masquerading as a protector of our constitution & our federal structure. Usually, con artists scam the rich, but DMK shows no disparity; they scam both the rich and the poor. The whole country now knows that the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu’s family owns private schools that teach three languages & more but opposes the same policy for the state’s Government school students. They are calling you a hypocrite, Thiru@mkstalin,” Annamalai wrote in a post on X.

Annamalai attacked MK Stalin, saying he thinks local actions by his party reflect the whole state’s view.

“TN CM thinks that the orchestrated drama by his partymen in pockets here and there reflects the voice of entire TN. It is also unfortunate that you haven’t realised that your attempts to divert people’s attention to insignificant matters have been exposed. Live in your blissful world of ignorance, Thiru@mkstalin. We will not disturb you,” the BJP leader added.
